Drokpo's Livelihood Program, established in 2016, is a forward-thinking initiative designed to foster the development of micro and small businesses, leading to socio-economic advancement. Dedicated to serving the Tibetan and Himalayan communities in Nepal, Drokpo actively nurtures local enterprises through comprehensive business development and financial literacy training. Our workshops cover essential topics such as basic bookkeeping, business ideation, savings strategies, and advertising techniques.
Since 2018, in partnership with Hope and Challenge, Drokpo has annually awarded seed grants to approximately 10 recipients, empowering them to launch their own businesses. These grants, provided to eligible participants including ex-monks, nuns, and new Tibetan refugees, provide more than just financial aid. We also provide customized vocational training, essential business advice during the initial stages, and support with detailed business planning. This approach aims to improve their skills for productivity and profitability. To date, over 100 families have witnessed life-changing benefits from this initiative.
Drokpo remains steadfast in its commitment to providing vital income-generating opportunities, thereby elevating economic self-sufficiency and enhancing the local economy. We strive to expand our impact, reaching more individuals and effecting positive change. Through our ongoing efforts, we aim to empower individuals, create sustainable livelihoods, and contribute to the holistic development of communities.
